Dr Ari Manuel is a general respiratory consultant in Liverpool with a specialism in sleep disorders and ventilation. He is also a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Liverpool and academic with the University of Sheffield.

He graduated from Imperial College with a BSc in Biochemistry and degree in medicine. He completed his training in London and Oxford and undertook a DPhil at Oriel College in Oxford in Sleep Medicine as well a diploma in high education from the University of Oxford

He is a fellow of higher education academy, the vice president of the international council of the American association of sleep medicine (AASM) (2021 - 2024) and a council member for the British Sleep Society (BSS) and the Royal Society of Medicine (2019 - 2027)

He co-authored one of the highest referenced and viewed medical research paper in the Lancet journal in 2020 on the long term complications of COVID-19 infection
