Dr Alexander Sirker is a highly experienced Consultant in Interventional and General Cardiology, working at University College London Hospitals and St Bartholomew's Hospital in London. He is also the Clinical Lead for Cardiology at University College London Hospitals and an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London.
Dr Sirker received his medical training from the University of Cambridge and completed his specialist training in Cardiology at several renowned cardiac centers. He also gained expertise in Interventional Cardiology at King's College Hospital in London and the Royal Jubilee Hospital in British Columbia, Canada.
Dr Sirker's clinical expertise includes coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stenting procedures, as well as pressure wire studies, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and rotational atherectomy. He has a particular interest in using the radial artery for "keyhole" access in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and in complex coronary interventions.
In addition to his work in Interventional Cardiology, Dr Sirker also sees patients with general adult cardiology conditions, such as coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, high blood pressure, and heart failure. He is also accredited in echocardiography, cardiac CT, and General (Internal) Medicine.
Dr Sirker is passionate about clinical risk reduction and has acted as the site lead at St Bartholomew's Hospital for the implementation of the new National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures across all medical specialities.
