Mr Adrian Casey holds a joint Consultant appointment with The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore (Spinal Unit) and The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square (UCLH).
He was the first Neurosurgeon in the country to be appointed as a pure spinal surgeon. His appointment was designed to bring together the two major surgical disciplines involving the spine i.e. orthopaedics and neurosurgery.
Mr Casey was previously a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Charing Cross Hospital and senior lecturer Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine. He holds honorary senior lecturer status of Institute of Orthopaedics and Institute of Neurology at UCL.
Mr Casey is a tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons, AO Spinal Foundation and Expert International Faculty for De Puy Spine. He is one of the founding Directors of the European Association Neurological Surgeons (Spine section). He is the president of the British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS).
His clinical interests include all aspects of the spine including neck and back pain, spinal stabilisation and artificial disc technology, cervical myelopathy, lumbar canal stenosis and spinal tumours.
