About

Dr. Nadir is a leading national and international expert in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair (TEER/MitraClip), and other novel keyhole treatments for heart valve disease. Trained in the USA, he is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Lead for Cardiovascular Disease at Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care System (ICS), and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology.

A pioneer in advanced cardiac treatments, Dr. Nadir has played a pivotal role in bringing cutting-edge, minimally invasive therapies to Birmingham. He has performed many of the region’s first procedures for heart valve disease at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, expanding access to world-class cardiac care. His pursuit of excellence led him to complete an advanced fellowship in interventional and structural cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, one of the top-ranked hospitals in the United States. During this time, he refined his expertise in minimally invasive heart valve repair and replacement, transforming patient outcomes and advancing cardiac treatment approaches. His research focuses on coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease, with publications in leading cardiology journals, including Circulation, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and the European Journal of Heart Failure. He is currently investigating the impact of catheter-based heart valve treatments on patient outcomes.

Dr. Nadir specializes in advanced, minimally invasive treatments for heart valve disease and provides state-of-the-art catheter-based procedures to repair or replace heart valves without open-heart surgery. His clinical expertise includes:

 TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)

 Mitral & Tricuspid TEER (MitraClip & Triclip)

 Mitral & Tricuspid Valve Replacement

 Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty

 Paravalvular Leak Closure

 Coronary Stenting & Complex Coronary Procedures (including Rotational Atherectomy and Coronary Shockwave Therapy)

Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Nadir is a sought-after faculty member at national and international cardiology conferences, where he shares insights on TAVI, TEER, and other advanced interventional procedures. He regularly lectures at leading medical forums, contributing to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine. Passionate about education, he leads cardiology training programs at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and mentors medical students and future cardiologists worldwide, fostering knowledge exchange and hands-on learning. Renowned for his compassionate and holistic approach to patient care, he prioritizes clear communication and patient empowerment, ensuring individuals fully understand their condition and treatment options. His commitment to preventative cardiology helps patients manage risk factors and maintain long-term heart health. In addition to his NHS role, he consults privately at The Harborne Hospital, offering expert, patient-focused cardiac care with access to the latest interventional treatments.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Nadir enjoys cycling, skiing, and gardening, while cherishing quality time with his family.
