    Dominic Spicer trained in London, on the original St Mary’s Hospital , orthopaedic programme and in specialist hip and knee units at the Arthroplasty Foundation and the Rudy Ellis Sports Medicine Institute, Louisville, USA. He won The Medal and a distinction in the Surgical Fellowship Examination and taught anatomy at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical Schools – during his orthopaedic training

    In 2001, he was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals and then in 2004, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon back at St Mary’s and Imperial College School of Medicine. He is on the emergency staff of the West London Major Trauma Unit at St Mary’s Hospital.

    His elective practice is now exclusively related to sports injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee and hip. His particular interests relate to meniscus , ligament and cartilage problems – joint preservation surgery ,

    osteotomy and joint replacement
    He maintains an active role in World Orthopaedics and in service provision and orthopaedic training programmes in developing countries ( MEAK and the Kenya Orthopaedic Project) and also has a particular interest in high latitude medical care and orthopaedics in extreme environments.
