Recruitment scams
Unfortunately, fraudsters sometimes impersonate recruiters to encourage people to share personal or financial information.
These recruitment scams are most commonly circulated via text message, WhatsApp, social media, or unofficial email addresses. We take this seriously and want to help you stay safe when applying for roles with HCA Healthcare UK.
Below you’ll find guidance on how to spot a potential scam and what to do if something doesn’t feel right.
Be cautious if you experience any of the following:
- Unexpected contact about a role you didn’t apply for, especially if it feels out of the blue
- Offers that sound too good to be true, such as very high pay or guaranteed roles without interview
- Requests for personal or financial information, including bank details, copies of ID, or payment of any kind
- Unofficial email addresses that closely resemble ours but aren’t quite right such as recruitment@hcahealthcare-careers.co.uk, hca.uk.recruitment@gmail.com or careers-hcauk@outlook.com
- Pressure to act quickly or threats that you’ll lose the opportunity if you don’t respond immediately
- Poor spelling, grammar, or formatting in messages or adverts
- Interviews conducted via text, chat apps, or messaging platforms, rather than video or in person
- If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts.
To be clear, HCA Healthcare UK will never:
- Ask you to pay money for a job, sponsorship, application fee, visa, or work permit
- Request bank details or payment information by email, text, or messaging apps
- Offer you a role without you completing our official application and interview process
- Ask you to download an app to schedule or complete an interview
- Conduct recruitment activity via WhatsApp, private social media messages, or other informal channels
All legitimate vacancies are advertised on our official careers website, and all personal information is handled securely through our HR systems.
- Do not respond or click on any links
- Do not share personal, financial, or identification details
- If you’ve already shared information, contact your bank immediately
- You can also report suspected scams through the following official UK channels:
- Text messages: Forward the message to 7726 (a free reporting service provided by mobile operators)
- Emails: Forward the email to report@phishing.gov.uk
- Other scams: Report to Action Fraud, or Police Scotland if you live in Scotland
- Once reported, delete the message.
