After moving to the UK and working as an agency nurse Alvaro made the switch to permanent and in his own words it was a game changer. Now he works as a Deputy Charge nurse at HCA at UCH, one of our specialist cancer centres, after being inspired to help others following his friends cancer diagnosis. Here he talks more about what his role involves, how he leads and motivates his team and how he prides himself on being there for others.

Cardiac
General nursing
Covering both inpatients and outpatients, our roles span everything from orthopaedics to urgent care.
General surgery
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the highest standards of care are delivered to our patients before and after they undergo surgery.
ITU / Critical care
You’ll help to deliver some of the most complex and advanced medical interventions, giving you the opportunity to work at the forefront of the field.
IVF
Our IVF site at The Lister Hospital is widely recognised as one of the leading and most successful fertility centres in the UK.
Neonatal
Working with specialist consultant neonatologists, we monitor and care for babies who need a higher level of care.
Neurological rehab
The Wellington Hospital in North London is home to the largest independent, CARF-accredited Neurological Rehabilitation unit in the UK.
Neurosurgery
We have dedicated neurosurgical wards in our hospitals, and you’ll deliver super-specialised treatments alongside leading neurologists and neurosurgeons.
Occupational health
You’ll be involved in a wide range of cases, from long-term disability case management through to ill-health early retirement assessments.
Oncology / Haematology
We provide everything from screening, diagnostics and interventional radiology to immuno-oncology, chemotherapy, and clinical trials.
Practice nurse
At our clinics in the City and nearby corporate client sites, practice nurses assist with everything from travel vaccinations and wound care to medical screening and health advice.
Paediatrics and PICU
Our leading paediatric services at The Portland Hospital provide cutting edge paediatric care across a number of specialities from cardiac to ENT.

Our nurses are based in our six London hospitals as well as at The Christie Private Care in Manchester, The Wilmslow Hospital in Cheshire, The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham and other outpatient clinics across the UK. Our main London hospitals are:

Travel and relocation
Getting to work
Our central London hospitals are all within an easy walk of excellent transport links. The Christie Private Care is in the Withington area of Manchester, which is accessible via frequent buses and the Metrolink tram.
Relocation assistance
If your new role involves relocating to the UK, we can provide relocation assistance. The level and kind of support we are able to offer will depend on your personal circumstances, and will be discussed with you during the selection process.
Return to Practice
If your Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) PIN has expired, our new Return to Practice programme will help you get back into nursing. We’ll cover your fees for you to attend university, and you’ll be given a part-time role during the programme, plus a permanent role once you’ve completed it.
