We recognise and value everyone as unique — because no two people bring the same perspective, and that’s what makes our teams stronger.
Culture and values
At HCA UK, kindness, respect and individual value are paramount. Because being at our best for our patients is all down to the way we look after each other. It’s how we care.
Together we are stronger
‘Patients first, colleagues always’ is how we describe our ambitions at HCA UK. Developed by one of our own colleagues, it sums up the pride we take in supporting each other and fostering a caring, inclusive environment where everyone feels seen, heard and supported.
Of course, it’s a journey. But we’re making good progress. Thanks to partnerships with myGwork, Stonewall, RefuAid and the Armed Forces Covenant, and by investing in training to make recruitment more inclusive, we’re closer than we’ve ever been to making HCA UK a place where everyone can thrive.
The values that shape our culture
Our mission is clear: to commit to the care and improvement of human life above all else. And to bring that to life, we’re guided by four core values that shape how we work, how we treat each other, and how we create a truly welcoming culture where everyone can feel like they belong.
Unique and individual
Kindness and compassion
We lead with empathy. Whether we’re supporting a colleague, caring for a patient, or listening to a new idea - we do it with humanity.
Honesty, integrity and fairness
We do what’s right, not what’s easy. Trust matters here, and we work hard to earn and keep it - every day.
Loyalty, respect and dignity
We treat one another as valued members of the HCA UK family. Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported — and we’re building a culture where that’s the norm.
We are HCA UK
Here, you don’t join a team. You’re part of a community. A community of individuals who each bring something special and different to our organisations. Individuals who are comfortable to bring their full selves to their role because, together, we don’t only welcome different perspectives, we celebrate them. Watch some of our colleagues share their personal stories and how they’re able to be themselves at HCA UK.

Our colleague networks
Inclusion comes from all directions. And, through our colleague networks, frontline colleagues are the driving force behind the inclusive culture we’re cultivating across HCA UK.
From themed meals and events to webinars about Black History Month and neurodiversity, they’re working hard to celebrate diversity, create spaces for important conversations, and shape the sense of belonging we want everyone, at every one of our locations, to feel.
#WithPride at HCA UK
As our first employee network, we’re incredibly proud of #WithPride. Open to all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies, this group of colleagues meets regularly to develop new policies and plan activities. To date, this has included a stall at London Pride and Pride pins for all colleagues and patients to show their year-round solidarity.
Awards and partnerships
We know that there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to inclusion and we don’t have all the answers. That’s why we’re proud to partner with organisations who support us on our journey with their in-depth knowledge and expertise.
