Information Technology Group careers at HCA UK
Our Information Technology Group is a centralised function that supports every aspect of HCA Healthcare UK’s work. From developing our infrastructure and leveraging Microsoft services to driving our investment in clinical applications and leading our migration to the Cloud, everything we do is focused on our wider commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
Specialisms
In all, we have around 160 dedicated professionals working with us in ITG, but as we continue to ramp up our investment in technology, that number is growing all the time. Most of us focus on one of the following areas, even though we are extremely collaborative in the way we work:
Infrastructure of IT
Clinical Applications
From Electronic Health Records to sophisticated imaging systems, here’s where we develop, deploy and maintain the specialist applications used by our frontline clinical teams.
Non-clinical applications
Like any large, complex organisation, we rely on a wide range of central functions, think; HR, Finance and Facilities Management. Keeping those teams systems running smoothly is all thanks to this team.
Project delivery
Innovative new tech to deliver the best care? – We’re continually introducing new technologies that help our organization provide the best possible care. Ensuring those projects run smoothly is all down to this team.
Security
This team ensures our patients data is secure, amongst other things! Everything about Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance is down to this team, ensuring everything we do is secure whilst being innovative.
Service delivery
Supporting the day to day IT whether it be at the hospitals supporting our clinicians or for our corporate staff at our offices, or remotely. This team ensures the organization has what they need technically to do their job.
This team also develops and delivers the training that enables our consultants to realise our tech’s full potential.
What we look for
From a technical standpoint, it obviously depends on the nature of the role. But like everyone in ITG, you’ll need an unshakeable belief in the transformative potential of digital technology and a burning desire to improve the already outstanding care we provide.
Put simply, if you’re keen to blaze a trail and leverage new technology, this is an organisation where you can make a real and positive difference to people’s lives.
Training and career development
Limitless scope for learning and development and fantastic long-term prospects. These are two of the most compelling reasons to join us in ITG.
As well as open access to all the latest technical training, our colleagues have the chance to develop their soft skills in areas like relationship management and personal resilience. Essentially, whatever support you need to excel in your current role – and take the next step – we make sure it’s available to you. Having a skilled team who are eager to develop is something we value and encourage.
When it comes to career progression, we’re big on that too. Everyone has their own development plan and new opportunities are emerging all the time. For those who are keen to explore different areas, we also offer the chance to branch out, develop new skills and move between teams. Exactly half of our roles we have filled this year in ITG are internal career progression.
Locations
Our core ITG teams are based in London and Wales. Our new hospital in Birmingham presents a variety of exciting opportunities there too. That said, many jobs in ITG offer tremendous scope for flexible working.
