Putting your child's needs first

We offer general paediatrics and routine procedures right through to complex cardiac and neurological treatment

About paediatrics at HCA UK

When a child is unwell, it can be a worrying and difficult time for the whole family. We offer general paediatrics and routine procedures, right through to complex cardiac, cancer and neurological treatment, with specialist nursing and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) support. Whether your child needs an urgent check-up or a stay in hospital, we can offer you quick, convenient access with same-day appointments and admission. All our consultants and nursing teams are here to provide the best care for your child, as well as reassurance for the whole family. We do everything in our power to make our young patients well again, as quickly as possible. We’ll always go the extra mile to make them feel safe and comfortable, keeping you informed at every step.

Our paediatric consultants carry out a wide range of diagnostic tests and procedures to help children with many different medical conditions.

  • Adenoid removal

    Need to know

Adenoids are part of the immune system in children. They begin to shrink around the age of seven and usually disappear by adulthood. Adenoids can become inflamed due to frequent infections or allergies. They can cause uncomfortable symptoms for your child, such as breathing problems or ear infections.

  • Autism spectrum disorder ASD diagnosis

    Need to know

Our ASD assessment service provides support for children and their families who are looking for an autism diagnosis. If your child is experiencing difficulties, an assessment may lead to an explanation and help you plan for the most appropriate care, education and support.

  • Selective dorsal rhizotomy SDR

    Need to know

Spastic diplegia is a condition that affects around 25% of children born with cerebral palsy. Children with this condition can find it difficult to walk due to stiffness (spasticity) in their legs. Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) treatment cuts selected nerve roots in the spinal cord to reduce stiffness.

  • Cochlear implants

    Need to know

A cochlear implant is an electronic device that can be suitable for those who are profoundly deaf. It has several different parts — some are surgically implanted under the skin and some are worn on the body. It works by stimulating the nerves in the inner ear to send sound signals to the brain.

  • Frenectomy

    Need to know

Frenulums in the mouth are thin bands of tissue, usually at the underside of the tongue, which can sometimes make it difficult for your child to nurse, eat or speak properly. A quick procedure can release or remove this tissue.

We had the best specialists on call to speak to any time, modern technology, and the nurses were just amazingly kind and caring.
