What is vascular screening?
Who should have screening?
The majority of vascular conditions do not have symptoms until they’ve advanced, which is why vascular screenings are particularly important if you’re at an increased risk of vascular disease.
Although any adult can benefit from a vascular screening, the following factors can result in an increased risk of vascular disease:
- Age 55 and over
- Diabetes
- Smokers and ex-smokers
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- An inactive lifestyle
- Family history of cardiovascular disease or aneurysm
- Symptoms of vascular disease, including leg pain or pain when walking
- Previous stroke or heart attack

Our screening packages
-
Screening Test 1: Arterial Disease - £500 icon plus
This package has been designed to assess the risk factors for developing and worsening of arterial disease, along with an assessment of the carotid artery. The carotid artery is the main artery that takes blood to the brain and an ultrasound scan is used to check the artery for early signs of disease as well as blockages, which could cause a stroke if left untreated. An assessment of early disease of the carotid artery can tell you whether you are more at risk of cardiovascular complications. Patients benefit from the following diagnostic tests:
- Blood pressure check
- Blood tests for cholesterol, clotting, diabetes and blood counts
- An ultrasound of the carotid artery
-
Screening Test 2: Heart and aortic health - £900 icon plus
This package has been developed to evaluate the health of the heart using three diagnostic tests. An echocardiogram is used to analyse the function of heart valves, while an electrocardiogram assesses test for causes of heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation, which can lead to complications if left undetected.
The aorta is the main artery that transports blood from the heart to rest of the body, and while it rarely comes blocked it can become dilated and eventually cause a fatal rupture. We therefore use abdominal aortic ultrasounds to measure the size of this artery, as surgery can then be advised to prevent future rupturing:
- Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound
-
Screening Test 3: Circulation - £1,100 icon plus
Peripheral arteries that carry blood to our legs can suffer from hardening or narrowing, causing leg pain and pain when walking. This screening package has been designed specifically to evaluate the arterial health of legs.
Tests include measuring blood pressure in your legs and comparing it to that of your arms as well as ultrasound scanning of both arteries and veins to ensure they are open and free of scarring and diseases such as varicose veins:
- Ankle brachial pressure index
- Peripheral arterial ultrasound
- Venous ultrasound
-
Screening Test 4: Comprehensive Package - £2,500 icon plus
For those seeking a complete and detailed assessment of their heart and vascular health, we can offer all of these tests at a discounted price:
- Blood pressure check
- Blood tests for cholesterol, clotting, diabetes and blood counts
- An ultrasound of the carotid artery
- Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound
- Ankle brachial pressure index
- Peripheral arterial ultrasound
- Venous ultrasound
