    Rahul Patel qualified from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1998. He trained in surgery at various London teaching hospitals before undertaking specialist orthopaedic training on the Middlesex/University College Hospital, London rotation.

    His subspecialist fellowship training was in reconstructive arthroscopy for sports injuries at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and at the world-renowned Steadman-Hawkins Clinic, Vail, USA. He has also gained clinical experience at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota and at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York. He was appointed as a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at UCLH in 2009 where he is an active surgical trainer and educational supervisor as well as holding positions in senior clinical management.

    He is co-developer, module leader and course tutor on the MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise & Health at UCL and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer position there. In addition, he is President of the Royal Society of Medicine, Orthopaedic section for 2015/16 and Chief Medical Advisor for MyRecovery, a digital health start up.

    Mr Patel’s main orthopaedic and research interests are sports injuries of the knee and hip where he specializes in joint preserving, arthroscopic treatments such as ligament reconstruction, cartilage regeneration, meniscal transplantation and hip impingement surgery. He also sees patients with soft tissue injuries around the hip and groin. He sees patients of all ages and continues to research and publish in his specialist areas of interest.
