About HCA UK
At HCA Healthcare UK, we offer the latest medical expertise, therapies and technologies. However, our approach isn’t just clinical. We deliver healthcare with a human touch. Whether they specialise in cancer, cardiac, neurology, orthopaedics or paediatrics, all our centres have the same priority – our patients.
“You’re going to be joining a group which leads the field in private healthcare.”
Our story
Dedicated to the care and improvement of human life
Dr Thomas Frist founded HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) in 1968, with a vision of creating a healthcare company with the scope, resources and expertise to provide the highest possible standard of care.
Now, with nearly 300 hospitals across the US and UK, 87,000 nurses and 37,000 doctors, HCA is one of the world’s leading providers of private healthcare services. We learn from every one of our 27 million patient encounters each year, helping to ensure that we deliver the outstanding care that we would want for our own family to each and every individual patient.

Our values
Our mission is to commit to the care and improvement of human life above all else.
To achieve this, we all live and breathe four core values.
Unique and Individual
Kindness and compassion
We treat people with kindness and compassion.
Honesty, Integrity and fairness
We act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness.
Loyalty, respect, and dignity
We trust and treat one another as valued members of the HCA UK family with loyalty, respect and dignity.
Training & development
It’s not just our facilities, treatments and technology that keep us at the forefront of healthcare. It’s our people too. Helping everyone to learn and grow at HCA UK is a core pillar of our colleague strategy. To enable this we invest heavily every year in professional and personal development.
For those colleagues that directly care for our patients we offer a wide range of development opportunities which include many clinically focused study days such as Advanced Life Support, Intravenous Cannulation and Advanced Airway. These study days are designed to meet individual development needs and provide resources to deliver the highest standards of patient care.
Clinicians in leadership roles can access clinical leadership courses, including the RCN Accredited Being an Effective Clinical Leader programme. In partnership with Cass Business School, we also offer an Executive Masters in Medical Leadership programme, with a fully funded part-time MSc, to help junior doctors develop the leadership skills for senior roles in the future.
We offer a range of Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) development programmes that support aspiring leaders through to senior leaders. For senior leaders we offer a fully funded Executive Master in Leadership and Executive MBA. Our programme of Leadership Essentials is designed to equip all leaders with the core skills, knowledge and behaviours that they need to be successful.
We also offer a range of professional qualifications to all our colleagues, including Customer Service and Business Administration, that provide a structured learning programme delivered through workplace learning with the support of a dedicated learning adviser.
Flexible hours
Wherever possible, we support flexible working. As well as full-time roles, we have part-time, annualised hours, term-time only and bank opportunities.
What makes working here different?
HCA UK is an established provider of premium healthcare. We know what quality health care looks like, how to deliver it and how we need to support you so that you can deliver your best and feel good at work.
Get more out of work
Long-term and every day too, we try and to create an environment in which you can do your work easier and better and in which you can have just a little bit more control than is offered elsewhere.
You’ll work at better facilities, have more time with the people that count, patients and customers and also have more control over your working patterns and the benefits you receive.
We truly believe that you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you work with us.
During your time with us, we’ll always strive to:
- Help you get better at what you do: learn from your colleagues and via the tasks you undertake.
- Encourage a sense of pride in your team: whether that’s the immediate team around you or the managers who will roll up their sleeves to get stuck in.
- Empower you to do new things in areas that interest you.
- Ensure that the facilities, the technology and the control you need are all in place to help you do the best you can.
- HCA UK provides complex and acute care for its patients. We’re proud of that and will do everything we can to help you do that.
