Huntingdon, HCA Cyted Laboratories
Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Competitive salary dependent on experience, with excellent benefits

We’re looking for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our Histology team at HCA Cyted Laboratories in Huntingdon. This role is ideal for an experienced Biomedical Scientist who has developed expertise in tissue dissection and is ready to take a recognised advanced role within a modern, digitally led histopathology service. You’ll be trusted for your judgement, technical skill, and professionalism, working closely with Consultant Pathologists and colleagues to deliver consistently highquality results.

You’ll be part of a stable and motivated team where quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement are prioritised over constant capacity pressure. With modern facilities, digital workflows, and predictable weekday working, this is an environment that allows you to focus on your practice, contribute meaningfully to service development, and maintain a healthy work–life balance.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.

What you’ll do:

  • Undertake routine and complex histological work, with a particular focus on highquality tissue dissection

  • Act as an advanced point of reference for dissection practice, supporting consistency, quality, and best practice within the laboratory

  • Oversee the management of dissection related equipment and consumables, ensuring continuity of service and maintaining appropriate stock levels within the department.

  • Contribute to the effective day‑to‑day organisation and strategic operation of the Histopathology Department, supporting the delivery of departmental turnaround time (TAT) targets and ensuring a consistently high standard of service delivery and patient care.

  • Work closely with Consultant Pathologists and colleagues to support efficient workflows and service improvements

  • Contribute to maintaining and enhancing ISO 15189 compliance through quality assurance and continuous improvement activity

  • Support the training, development, and competency assessment of colleagues within the Histopathology team

What you’ll bring:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist

  • Experience working in an ISO 15189 accredited Histology laboratory

  • Demonstrable experience in tissue dissection, with DEP desirable

  • Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences

  • Confidence to work autonomously, support colleagues, and contribute positively to service development
