Payroll Officer

Location: 2 Cavendish Square, London
Working hours: Monday to Friday, nine am to five pm
Working pattern: Hybrid, with a minimum of two days per week in the office
Salary: £28,860 per annum, plus excellent benefits
When you join HCA UK, you’re joining a community of colleagues who care deeply about doing the right thing, for patients and for each other. Our Corporate teams play a vital role in making sure our hospitals and services run smoothly, and payroll is no exception. This is a role where accuracy matters, trust matters, and where your work supports thousands of colleagues across HCA UK to feel valued and supported every month.
Working from our Corporate head office at 2 Cavendish Square, you’ll be part of a centralised Payroll team responsible for both weekly and monthly payrolls across the organisation. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of payroll processes, supported by experienced colleagues and clear procedures, with genuine opportunities to build your knowledge and progress your career over time.
Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Others may think this is just a role within our Payroll team but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll support the end‑to‑end delivery of accurate, timely payrolls, working closely with colleagues across HR and the wider business. You’ll manage payroll queries from current and former colleagues and managers, provide guidance on statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SPP, and ensure payroll data is processed correctly and in line with legislation. You’ll also support starters and leavers, maintain accurate records, produce payroll correspondence and reports, and help administer pensions, court orders and third‑party deductions as part of a centralised payroll function.

What you’ll bring

You’ll already have experience working in a busy payroll processing environment and be comfortable managing multiple deadlines. You’ll have a good working knowledge of SSP, SMP and SPP, along with associated HMRC rules, and feel confident handling payroll queries with professionalism and care. Strong communication skills are essential, as is a good working knowledge of Excel and a clear understanding of data protection and payroll compliance.

Why HCA UK

As part of one of the world’s leading healthcare providers, you’ll benefit from being part of a large, established organisation that genuinely invests in its people. Career progression is a real strength of our Corporate teams, with opportunities to develop your skills, take on broader responsibilities and move forward within payroll or across the wider business. We also offer a supportive working environment, hybrid working, and benefits designed to support your wellbeing, inside and outside of work.
If you’re looking for a Payroll Officer role where your work is valued, your development is supported and your contribution genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.
