Statutory and Technical Accountant (Project)
London
Full time- 37.5 hours per week
Fixed term - 12 months
Salary: Up to £65,000 dependant on experience and with a range of exceptional benefits
We’re looking for a Project Statutory and Technical Accountant to lead a defined piece of work linked to new legislation. You’ll join our Financial Controls and Compliance team based in London to deliver a specific project that will shape how we apply the latest updates to FRS102.
Your work will focus on the changes relating to leases and revenue, bringing colleagues together from across the organisation and ensuring we remain compliant, informed and ready for the future.
This team plays a central role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and compliance of our statutory reporting across the organisation. They work closely with colleagues across our hospitals and corporate functions, providing guidance, oversight and support that underpins our financial governance.
With oversight of around fifty statutory entities, direct interaction with our external auditors, and regular exposure to senior leadership, the team offers a collaborative and insightful environment where complex technical accounting comes to life. This role sits at the heart of that work, helping us remain compliant, forward thinking and aligned to best practice.
As a Project Statutory and Technical Accountant, you’ll prepare and implement updates to FRS102, focusing on leases and revenue. You’ll research the changes, gather information from colleagues across the organisation, and produce clear technical papers that explain how the new requirements will apply. You’ll then take ownership of implementing those updates within our statutory accounts, ensuring a smooth transition and strong technical governance.
You’ll also support the current Statutory and Technical Accountant with the external audit process and due diligence reviews for new acquisitions. Alongside this, you’ll provide technical accounting support and best practice guidance to teams across the business. This is a fixed term role with a clear purpose, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful work that will shape our statutory reporting.
Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Other’s may think this is just a role in (team), but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.
What you’ll do:
Prepare and implement updates to FRS102, focusing on leases and revenue
Produce technical accounting papers and support the group’s understanding of accounting changes
Lead on gathering and reviewing information needed for statutory reporting updates
Support the Statutory and Technical Accountant with external audit and due diligence work
Provide technical accounting guidance and best practice support across the business
What you’ll bring:
Chartered Accountant qualification
Experience preparing statutory accounts and working to tight deadlines
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and US GAAP
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with senior stakeholders
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
