Prof Anthony Mathur is a Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Cardiology. He qualified in Medical Sciences from Cambridge University and trained in Cardiology. He obtained his PhD from University College London, focusing on stem cell biology and heart disease. Prof Mathur sees patients with all general cardiological conditions and specializes in interventional cardiology and the treatment of chest pain. He is actively involved in clinical research, running an extensive program to develop new treatments for heart disease, including a stem cell research program aimed at repairing damaged hearts and a novel stent development program. Prof Mathur has published extensively in prestigious cardiology journals and lectures nationally and internationally. His expertise includes coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (including complex cases), coronary stent insertion, chest pain, angina, heart attack, acute coronary syndrome, and coronary artery disease.
