Professor Maud Lemoine is a Professor of Hepatology and head of the Digestive Disease Division. She is a consultant in Hepatology. She completed her medical degree in Hepato-gastroenterology from Paris University. She holds a PhD on the physiopathology of metabolic liver disease and has been working as a consultant for more than 10 years. Her clinical interests and research expertise are in viral hepatitis and metabolic liver disease. She is/was the chief investigator of numerous studies in this field and has been leading a research program on viral hepatitis and chronic liver disease in Africa. Her research is regularly used to inform the World Health Organisation (WHO) hepatitis B guidelines and other health policy agencies. She is a member of the WHO and European guideline development group for the management of hepatitis B and leads the hepatitis B clinical services. She has published extensively in world-class peer-reviewed journals, and her work is known internationally. She speaks French (mother tongue), English (fluently), and German (basic).
