Dr Jamie Vatish is a Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon at The Harborne Hospital specialising in the comprehensive management of breast disease, particularly focusing on breast cancer surgery. His expertise includes treating breast cancer and benign conditions, as well as providing reassurance to patients. Dr Vatish has advanced training in oncoplastic surgery, which involves techniques aimed at preserving the aesthetic appearance of the breast alongside cancer treatment.

Dr Vatish is one of the select few surgeons in the West Midlands proficient in performing Chest Wall Perforator Flaps in Breast Conserving Surgery, removing the need for mastectomy.

Dr Vatish completed his medical degree at Guys, Kings and St Thomas' Medical School in 2010, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He completed his higher surgical training in the Midlands before earning a National Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. During this fellowship at the Leeds Breast Unit, he honed his expertise, particularly in managing Breast-Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a rare immune cancer linked to breast implants. Currently, Dr Vatish serves within the NHS at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, which boasts one of the largest Breast Departments in the UK.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Vatish plays a role in shaping the future of medical professionals. Holding a degree in medical education, he serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He has also taught courses hosted by the Royal College of Surgeons, London and has published numerous papers covering various aspects of surgery and breast disease, with a particular emphasis on breast cancer genomics and breast conserving surgery.
