Full body MRI service
We can now offer our patients an MRI scan that gives a full view of the body. The detailed scan can take up to 90 minutes, and the images allow our doctors and consultants to diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions more accurately and efficiently.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance recommends to consider whole-body MRI as first-line imaging for patients with suspected or newly diagnosed Myeloma (cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow).
Our full body MRI scans are carried out by a specialist team and provide images of both the skeleton and vital organs, bone marrow, the brain, neck, chest, pelvis and abdomen (including the liver, kidneys, spleen, pancreas and gallbladder). For taller patients, we may not be able to scan the entire body – our team will discuss this with you at the time.
Patients wishing to book our full body MRI scan at The Lister Hospital (Chelsea Bridge Road) or Chelsea Outpatients Centre (280 Kings Road) must have a clinical referral via an HCA consultant, GP referral or other clinical professional. To book, call 020 7882 4114.

Cardiac MRI Service
The Cardiac MRI Service at The Lister Hospital offers a full range of cardiac scans, including cardiac rest, cardiac stress (perfusion) and hypertension imaging. We use a cardiac MRI scan to look at your heart’s function, size and structure.
The scans take 60-90 minutes and allow our expert medical teams to see if there have been any changes in the heart, such as damage caused by a heart attack or heart disease. The images can help our doctors and consultants give an early diagnosis of suspected cardiac conditions and plan any necessary treatment.
Patients wishing to book a cardiac scan at The Lister Hospital must have a clinical referral via an HCA consultant, GP referral or other clinical professional. To book, call 020 7730 3759 or email TL.Imaging@hcahealthcare.co.uk.
