    Prof Ikkos has received a National NHS Clinical Excellence Award and a Local NHS Staff Excellence Award “in recognition of dedication and commitment to service users in Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust”.

    He is Honorary Visiting Research Professor at London South Bank University and Treasurer Association of Clinical Professors of Psychiatry of UK and Ireland (2013-16). He has been President Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) Sections of Pain Medicine (2010-11) and Psychiatry (2012-13).

    Professor George Ikkos is Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Medical Education at Barnet Enfield and Haringey NHS Trust.

    Over a period of more than 20 years he has led the training of literally hundreds of psychiatrists and has attracted repeated personal praise by the London Deanery for his leadership in Medical Education. His academic interests and over 30 peer reviewed professional publications include psychiatric ethics and training. He is a Medical Assessor for the General Medical Council and was formerly examiner and Chair of the London Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and external examiner Imperial College School of Medicine.

    George Ikkos studied Psychology and Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto, Canada. He trained in Medicine and Psychiatry at the Middlesex and University College Hospitals London Medical Schools and associated Training Schemes. He qualified in Psychotherapy at the Institute of Group Analysis London and has supervised the training of psychiatrists in interview skills and psychotherapy.
