    Mark Emberton has been a Consultant Urologist at University College London Hospital since 1998. He qualified from Imperial Medical School in 1985 and completed his specialist training at Middlesex Hospital and University College London Hospital.

    Complementing his experience in general urological conditions Mark is internationally renowned as an expert in prostate cancer. In particular he specialises in prostate MRI, image guided prostate biopsy, tissue preservation and focal therapy for prostate cancer as well as prostate cancer risk stratification.

    Mark is also well known in the academic sector of prostate cancer with over 350 published papers generating over 20,000 citations. He has been awarded the positions of Professor of Interventional Oncology and Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at University College London. As Professor of Interventional Oncology, Mark is responsible for leading a clinical innovation team majoring in experimental medicine combining bio-engineering and nanotechnology with early phase trials in men with prostate cancer. Mark is regularly invited to present papers, chair panel discussions and give lectures nationally and internationally at conferences, symposia and worldwide meetings. In addition to this Mark is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and an Elected Member of the American Association of Genito-urinary Surgeons. Further to his clinical and academic work on prostate cancer Mark has been heavily involved in charity work with Prostate Cancer UK founding the Pioneers arm of the charity as well as being a Trustee of the Prostate Action charity.

    Outside of work Mark’s passions include European cookery, 20th century art and cheering on Queen’s Park Rangers! He also enjoys sport and can either be found out running, cycling, sailing or skiing.
