    Miss Bernardis is a Plastic Surgeon who, as a specialist in Hand Surgery, manages all types of Elective and traumatic hand conditions, such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease, tenosynovitis (including trigger finger and De Quervain’s tenosynovitis), ganglions, arthritis of the small joints of the fingers and thumbs, as well as tendon repair and reconstruction, microsurgical nerve repair and fixation of hand fractures.

    She offers a scar management service, both surgical and non-surgical; excision of lumps and bumps in the hand and elsewhere (including lipomas, neurofibromas and sebaceous cysts); and an excision biopsy service for moles and small skin cancers

    Miss Bernardis is an expert in wound management, including pre-tibial lacerations and small burns, using negative pressure dressings, dermal substitutes and skin grafts when needed.

    Her other main area of interest is the multidisciplinary care of patients with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), in particular hand contractures and skin cancer caused by this disease. As Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust (GSTT) is the UK Centre for the management of EB in adults, Miss Bernardis manages most of the adults in the UK with EB, as well as some patients from overseas.

    Miss Bernardis has been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in Hand Surgery and EB at GSTT since 2005. She was Clinical Lead of the Plastic Surgery Department for 2 years from 2009-2011.
