    Mr Sandiford is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon based at the London Hip Unit and St Georges University Hospital in central London. He specialises in hip and knee replacements and treating painful or failing joint replacements.

    He qualified at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 2000. His basic training in Orthopaedics and Hip and Knee reconstruction started in London on the South East Thames rotation and the London Hip Unit under the mentorship of Miss Sarah Muirhead-Allwood. He undertook specialist training in advanced hip and knee surgery subsequently in world renowned institutions in Vancouver (under the mentorship of Professors Duncan, Garbuz, Masri and Greidanus), Exeter, Nijmegen and London. He was awarded a Current Concepts in Joint Replacement Fellowship in 2014 and a British Hip Society Travelling Fellowship in 2016.

    Mr Sandiford’s clinical and research interests have focused around hip and knee reconstruction. He has published widely and presents regularly at national and international meetings on implant design, surgical techniques, clinical outcome and return to function and sporting activity after joint replacement surgery.
    He was also awarded a Masters degree with Merit in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff.

    He is involved in steering groups which focus on improving the quality of surgical care and training medical students, junior doctors and fellows.

    He continues to be heavily involved with research and is a reviewer for Hip International, The bone and Joint Journal and the British Medical Journal.
