    Dr Awenat is a Chartered Consultant Clinical Psychologist and the Head of Adult Psychology Services at The Priory Cheadle Royal Hospital. Prior to this position, she worked for 13 years in the NHS in a variety of mental health, physical health and forensic settings. Dr Awenat is experienced in the use of CBT, Compassionate Mind Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy, Schema Focussed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and is intensively trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Her primary therapeutic modality is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT A third generation form of CBT), and Dr Awenat provides training and supervision in this approach to clinical teams nationally, and to The University of Manchester Clinical Psychology Doctorate. Dr Awenat tailors her approach to the individuals presenting goals, treatment preference and lifestyle. Dr Awenat works within domains of mental health difficulties (such as depression, anxiety, trauma, stress), physical health (chronic fatigue, weight management, psychological responses to physical health problems), and also with individuals who simply find that life isnt working as they like (relationship difficulties, interpersonal effectiveness) and want to develop psychological skills to gain more fulfilment and enriched living.
