    Rehan Haidry is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist at University College Hospital, LONDON with expertise in general gastroenterology and hepatology. He trained at St Mary's Hospital in London and completed his Gastroenterology training in North East London. He went on to do a 2 year research fellowship at UCLH examining novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in the upper gastrointestinal tract including endoscopic treatment of early cancers. He has a particular interest in managing and treating patients with acid reflux symptoms. However he has on going experience with conditions such as diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and bloating. He regularly sees patients with Gastro-oesophageal reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, Inflammatory bowel disease and food intolerances.

    He has on going clinical research commitments at the National Medical Laser Centre, University college London. His research interests are focused on the development of new methods for detecting and treating dysplasia (early cancer) in Barrett's Oesophagus and other pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract. He is involved in the UK HALO Radiofrquency ablation registry which collects outcomes of this exciting new intervention in patients with early cancer of the oesoophagus.

    He has experience with the clinical evaluation of novel optical probes for non-invasively determining the molecular composition and microscopic morphology of tissue. In particular, he has been engaged with clinical studies of novel elastic scattering spectroscopy probes at the National Medical Laser Centre, and mid-infrared spectroscopy studies of oesophageal biopsy samples at the UCL Research Department of Structural and Molecular Biology where he currently supervises PhD students involved in this subject.

    He regularly attends and presents at both local and international conferences, using these as a forum to share his research findings but also learn from what others are doing in the filed of diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. He is actively involved in teaching and coordinates several state of the art endoscopy training courses at UCLH.
