Dr Phil Harrison
Dr Harrison provides medical advisory services for HCA's London Bridge Hospital. In his role, Dr Harrison leads interactions with hospital medical staff and the hospital leadership team to assist the hospital by providing medical advice and promote high quality, cost effective care. In addition, Dr Harrison s a member of The London Liver Centre, which comprises some of London’s top liver physicians and surgeons, offering our patients extensive global experience in treating conditions of the liver.
In his role, he contributes to the strategy, policies and decision making regarding hepatology treatments and advises HCA to ensure that care provided within the facility is appropriate and efficient. In his role, Dr Harrison advises on initiatives to drive clinical standards by providing professional advice on clinical governance matters and ensuring the adoption of those by colleagues in the hepatology area.
In addition, he works with medical insurance companies, GPs, other relevant local NHS contacts, and patients to educate and advise on relevant clinical updates to treatments in hepatology available in the facility. Furthermore, he advises on the accuracy of literature that may be published regarding relevant services. He will also advise on how to make the patient referral smooth to reduce stress and anxiety for patients.
In his role with The London Liver Centre, Dr Harrison is supported by experienced liver specialist nursing staff and the very latest in technology. The team from the London Liver Centre offers a portfolio of excellence in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, Hepatology, Live Living Donor Liver Transplantation and Liver Transplantation.
They provide a comprehensive clinical programme with an integrated investigation and treatment service covering every possible type of acute and chronic liver disease. Both routine and emergency cases are accepted – as both inpatients and outpatient – for liver transplantation, liver and pancreatic intensive care and general hepatology (including treatment for both hepatitis B and C virus infections).

HCA UK is charged by doctors in return for their expertise and advice, including on how to operate safe hospital facilities delivering complex care. All services provided under this agreement are charged to HCA UK. In 2019, the total paid to Dr Harrison for his medical advisory services to London Bridge Hospital was £116,757. In 2020 (until 30 September) the total paid for these services was £159,321.
In 2019 the total paid for these services to this group of doctors was £83,941. In 2020 (until 30 September) the total paid to this group of doctors for these services was £63,214.
HCA requires the doctors that advise us to attest that if they also practice in the NHS that they are not compromising their NHS commitments.
