Dr Tom Newsom-Davis

Dr Newsom-Davis provides medical advisory services for HCA's Leaders in Oncology Care. In his role, Dr Newsom-Davis leads on Medical Governance for the hospital, reporting to the Medical Advisory Committee. He advises the hospital management team in key areas to develop clinical strategy in clinical governance, quality improvement and clinical performance.


He works with the Hospital’s CEO and Medical advisor in developing and putting in place effective systems and frameworks of clinical governance that are robust, workable, accepted by the majority of the body of clinicians at the Hospital and are in accordance with the statutory requirements and the relevant HCA policies.


Further to this, Dr Newsom-Davis leads on facilitating a bi-monthly morbidity and mortality (M&M) meeting to ensure detailed review and discussions take place for all deaths of patients being treated with systemic anticancer drugs. This ensures lessons are learned from adverse clinical outcomes, improvements are made service delivery, and supports services to achieve and maintain high standards of care.


Dr Newsom-Davis is also chair of The Harley Street Clinic Lung multi-disciplinary team meeting.


HCA UK is charged by doctors in return for their expertise and advice, including on how to operate safe hospital facilities delivering complex care.


All services provided under this agreement are charged to HCA UK. In 2020, the total paid for these services was £27,427. Until 31 August, the total paid for these services in 2021 is £26,037.


HCA requires the doctors that advise us to attest that if they also practice in the NHS that they are not compromising their NHS commitments.
