Lead Pharmacy Technician for HCA Healthcare UK Primary Care Division
 

Location: London, base.  Travel required across all Primary Care Sites (Nationwide)
Hours: Full time Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Band 6 Competitive + a range of flexible benefits

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Pharmacy Technician, to join HCA Primary Care Division for this brand new pivotal role, responsible for delivering medicines optimisation across a national network of sites.

Working closely with the Primary Care Director of Nursing, and group Chief Pharmacist you will provide expert pharmaceutical advice, ensure compliance with medicines legislation and governance frameworks, and lead initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in medicines management. Interpret prescribing, cost, and wastage data to support effective pharmaceutical provision. 

This hybrid role involves regular travel and a minimum of two days per week in London. 

What you’ll do:

  • Respond to the medicines management needs of multiple sites, ensuring consistent and safe practices. 
  • Oversee the safe handling of medicines, including controlled drugs, ensuring legislative compliance is reflected in policy and practice. 
  • Act as the first point of contact for all medicine-related queries. 
  • Manage the cost-effective procurement and distribution of medicines, waste reduction ensuring value for money, appropriate ordering, and stock optimisation across sites. 
  • Coordinate and manage the distribution of high-value, limited-availability vaccines. 
  • Oversee the cost-effective procurement of consumables, maintaining appropriate stock levels and centralising orders where beneficial. 
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement projects to enhance medicines management.

What you’ll bring:

  • Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. 
  • Experience in leading medicine management, multisite responsibility in a primary or secondary care pharmacy services 
  • Experience in risk management, incident investigation and audits 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of medicines legislation, governance, medicines handling, storage, and stock control processes  
  • Ability to work independently and travel across sites nationally.
  • Understanding of fiscal responsibility in the procurement and management of medicines
