Location: The London Bridge Hospital
Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: Monday –Sunday (flexibility required to work long days, nights and Weekends)

Salary: Competitive plus 9% shift allowance

We’re looking for a qualified Nursing Associate to join the General Surgery inpatients ward at The London Bridge Hospital, currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC.

As a Nursing Associate, you will deliver hands-on, person-centred care as part of the MDT team in a range of different health settings  

The unit providescare for Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, Liver and renal transplants, Maxillofacial, Breast surgery patients alongside other general surgery specialities.

The London Bridge Hospital campus in Southeast London encompasses an outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard; the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site; Private Care at Guys, which is on the top four floors of Guys Hospital Cancer Centre; and outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City, Canary Wharf and Kent. With 160 beds, 22 ICU beds and 10 operating theatres we offer our patients exceptional treatment across a multitude of acute and complex care and have use of the latest technologies and healthcare innovations.

Main Duties are included but not limited to the following:

  • Take responsibility for a group of allocated patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.

  • Able to understand signs of deterioration in patient’s condition, monitor and escalate to appropriate staffs in timely manner.

  • Demonstrate the ability to keep complete, clear, accurate and timely records/documentation.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to perform range of nursing procedures, medical devices to meet patients’ needs for safe, effective and person-centred care related to medication, nutrition, hydration, elimination, oral care, skin integrity, pain etc.

  • Apply appropriate elements of nursing care process and be able to assist the RN in on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.

  • Perform and record clinical observations

  • Apply VTE prevention devices appropriately and monitor health and safety of patients.

  • Carry out oral medication task safely following Trust protocol once competency is achieved.

  • Position patients safely and follow MH guidance or any other instructions given by the therapists.

  • Assess patient's Falls Risk and input appropriate strategies recommended within the Trust policy.

What you’ll bring:

  • NMC Registered as a Nursing Associate

  • Significant UK post-registration experience within a Medical or Surgical ward

  • Ability to communicate with patients, relatives and health care providers

  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional

  • Good interpersonal skills. Polite, friendly and courteous manner

  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
