President and CEO of HCA UK Mike Neeb announces retirement

Today Mike Neeb announced he will be retiring after 19 years in the UK business and 12 years as HCA UK’s President and CEO.

The role will be taken on by John Reay, HCA UK’s current President of Operations and CEO of The Wellington Hospital, effective 1 April 2019.   

Mike transferred from HCA in the US to become HCA UK’s Chief Financial Officer in 2000. He was appointed the President and CEO of HCA UK in 2007. 

Under Mike’s leadership, HCA UK has grown from four hospitals into the largest provider of privately funded healthcare in the UK, with a network of hospitals and clinics London and Manchester, and partnerships with leading NHS trusts.  

Working with the nation’s leading consultants, Mike has pushed forward HCA UK‘s ambitions to provide a full range of care to private patients, including acute and complex treatment not previously available in the private sector.

  • New leadership for The Wellington Hospital will be announced in due course. In the interim, The Wellington Hospital’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Jane Whitney-Smith will act as CEO.
About John Reay
  • John Reay joined HCA UK in 2000 as CEO of London Bridge Hospital, and under his leadership he rapidly developed its services and facilities and was awarded a CQC Outstanding rating. He became President of Operations of HCA UK in 2016.
  • Prior to joining HCA UK John manged the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon and was initially trained in healthcare by BUPA Hospitals Limited, after having served in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers for 11 years. John and his wife, Sarah, have three children and live in South West London
