London Digestive Centre rated outstanding by CQC
London Digestive Centre , part of HCA Healthcare UK, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by national regulators the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Designed to offer seamless care pathways from consultation and diagnosis to treatment and long-term management of all gastrointestinal conditions, London Digestive Centre is a purpose-built outpatient and diagnostics centre within The Princess Grace Hospital campus. It equipped with an advanced imaging suite, 17 consulting rooms, two treatment suites and facilities for x-ray, Fibroscan, MRI, CT and ultrasound.
The CQC found examples of outstanding practice that enable the delivery of high quality, medical care, including:
• Highly individualised and meticulously researched care plans
• Proactive and responsive approach to meeting patient needs
• Advanced leadership strategies
• Provision of resources and support to encourage sustainable professional development
The report praised the facility for placing patient care ‘at the heart of the service’, centred above all on treating patients and colleagues with compassion and kindness.
The CQC also highlighted the quality of services across the facility to meet the needs of patients, with particularly meticulous research and highly individualised care plans in dietary services.
The CQC commended the London Digestive Centre’s CEO, Miranda Dodd, for fostering a culture of genuine inclusivity. This was reflected in the comments of staff, who said, "It’s an absolute joy being here. I’ve got time to do my job and you feel that you’re making a difference."
By contributing to a positive, inclusive working culture, the outstanding leadership across the facility were considered to have driven innovative and motivational opportunities and resources for long-term staff development and sustainability. The CQC said, "Leaders actively and openly engaged with patients, staff, equality groups, the public and local services to plan services [and] improve services for patients. The service had a vision for what it wanted to achieve, and a strategy to turn it into action."
