Dr Richard Keen is a Consultant Rheumatologist working at the Princess Grace Hospital. He has NHS appointments at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, and at University College London Hospitals. He also holds an honorary senior lecturer appointment at the Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science, University College London. Dr Keen graduated from St Mary's Hospital, London, UK in 1988. After general medical posts in London and Sheffield he started professional training in rheumatology, and during this time developed his specialist interest in osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. Dr Keen provides care for patients with a wide range of rheumatological and bone-related problems. He is also interested in evaluating treatments for athletes with bone related problems, and is working with UK Sport and several professional rugby and football clubs in this disease area. He is a member of the National Osteoporosis Society's National Scientific Committee and is on the Programme Committee for the Annual NOS Meeting. He is a Trustee for the charity the National Association for the Relief of Paget's Disease. He has also acted as an Associate Editor for the recent edition of the Primer on Metabolic Bone Disease, published by the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research.
