Consultations within hospitals & clinics

Arriving for your consultation

We expect all patients, visitors and staff to wear a mask when in our hospitals and clinics. If you do not have a mask on arrival, we will provide you with one on entry.

Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment time, so we can reduce the number of people onsite at any one time.

Before your appointment you will be asked to register your details with us. Registering takes around 20 minutes to complete. This is in order to minimise the possibility of queues or delays when you arrive. Please provide as much information as possible.

If your consultant has advised you need to attend your appointment in person, please come into the hospital on your own, unless there are extenuating circumstances:

  • you are accompanying a child
  • you require an interpreter
  • you require assistance from a carer to attend your appointment.

In such circumstances, both you and your companion will be screened when you arrive at the hospital or clinic.

Consultation

Consulting rooms are deep-cleaned after every appointment.

After your consultation

If your consultant advises that you require a diagnostic investigation or scan, we will contact you to arrange an appointment, if it cannot be completed during the same visit.

Additional information

COVID-19 testing

Outpatients will not be tested for COVID-19 using the antigen diagnostic swab test, but will be screened when they arrive to ensure that they are not displaying symptoms.

Prior to your consultation

If you have health insurance, you will need to provide an authorisation number and policy number, which can obtained directly from your health insurer.

Seating and Refreshments

In each building there will be guidance on the seating available, and social distancing measures will be in place.

Although we have temporarily closed our cafes, you will still be able to get hot drinks and water from vending machines. We are cleaning all vending areas more frequently to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
