Urgent and rapid treatment of sports injuries
Our Urgent Care teams provide quick examination, investigation and treatment for most commonly occurring sports injuries. We have quick access to diagnostic imaging and blood tests, as well as access to a large number of London’s leading consultant doctors specialising in orthopaedic care or sport and exercise medicine.
Should your injury require ongoing treatment or admission – we can arrange for all of your ongoing care, be it under a consultant doctor or via supportive services such as physiotherapy.

Assessment for sports injuries
You will first be seen by a triage nurse who will make an assessment of the severity of your injury, before passing your care on to an urgent care doctor. The doctor will then conduct a thorough physical examination and assess whether you need any further diagnostic tests.
If the doctor believes you will require ongoing treatment, they can make a referral to one of our leading consultants, specialising either in Sports and Exercise Medicine, or Orthopaedics.

- Pain relief
- Recommendation for swift recovery techniques (RICE etc.)
- Consultant referral, and potentially surgery where needed
- Physiotherapy referral
We can arrange specialist referral for short or long term follow up and admission to hospital for continued treatment if necessary.
How to access our Urgent Care Centre
We are open for walk in patients at our adult Urgent Care Centres, however our paediatric Urgent Care Centre at The Portland Hospital requires booking an appointment.
