What happens icon plus
During your appointment, your GP will carry out a simple saliva test, then send your sample to the DNAFit laboratory. This part of the test only takes a few minutes. At the laboratory, a dedicated team will analyse your results. The team comprises experts in the field of human genetics and nutrigenomics, which focuses on the interaction between nutrition and genetics. -
How to prepare icon plus
As a DNAFit test involves collecting a sample of your saliva, it may be recommended that you do not eat, drink or brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes before your test. Your GP will let you know exactly what you should do in preparation. -
Afterwards icon plus
You'll be able to go home straight after your assessment. Your GP will let you know when to expect the results. These will also be part of your personal medical record that you can access online, and available through the DNAFit portal. If your DNAFit test shows up any abnormality, your GP will contact you to discuss the next steps. Depending on the results, you GP may ask you for further diagnostic tests or treatment, a follow-up appointment, or a plan to repeat the test after an appropriate course of action.
