Our cardiac treatments use the latest diagnostics and surgical techniques to give you the quality care you deserve

Overview

With us, you're in good hands. Our cardiology consultants have an international reputation for carrying out pioneering diagnostic tests and treatments, including cardiac imaging, pacemaker and defibrillator services and coronary angioplasty. Our cardiology centres at London Bridge Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic and The Wellington Hospital provide the highest quality clinical expertise, rapid assessment and customised care to fit you. We use the latest medical equipment to treat all our patients — from babies to adults. Every day, our heart consultants treat patients using the most advanced medical equipment. At The Harley Street clinic we have a new 'hybrid' cardiac catheter lab. At The Wellington, we use the latest surgical techniques for everything from minimally invasive to cardiothoracic to vascular conditions, including bypass and heart valve replacements.

Expertise

Our consultants, cardiac physiologists and specialist cardiac nurses offer you expert, comprehensive cardiac care as soon as you need it.

  • Cardiac stress test

    Need to know

This routine test helps to diagnose coronary artery disease and cardiac arrhythmia, as well as investigate other heart-related symptoms including chest pain and dizziness. The test involves walking on a treadmill at a controlled speed and incline while monitoring your heart rate and blood pressure.

  • Echocardiogram

    Need to know

An echocardiogram is a simple scan to see if your heart and valves are working correctly. The moving image created by an ultrasound allows your consultant to check for potential damage caused by a heart attack or for other conditions that can affect heart function, including holes in the heart.

  • Electrical cardioversion

    Need to know

A cardioversion is a quick procedure that involves giving your heart a controlled electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat. If you have a heart condition, such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter, a cardioversion can correct this.

  • Pacemakers and defibrillators

    Need to know

A pacemaker or defibrillator can regulate your heartbeat if you have a condition that makes your heart beat too slow or too fast. If you have heart failure, it can improve the pumping of your heart. They are small electrical devices implanted just below your collarbone, usually on the left side.

  • Cardiac MRI

    Need to know

A cardiac MRI is used to look at your heart's function and structure. The MRI scanner uses a powerful magnetic field, radiofrequency waves and a computer to create detailed still and moving images of your heart. These images can help in early diagnosis and treatment of suspected cardiac conditions.

  • Coronary angiogram

    Need to know

This test is used to diagnose the degree and severity of heart disease. It can show where your arteries are narrowed, how badly and how well your heart is pumping blood.
