The Princess Grace Hospital rated Good by the Care Quality Commission

The Princess Grace Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK, has been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by national regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The 127 bed, eight theatre hospital which provides care across a depth and breadth of medical specialties, from outpatient, day case and urgent care to complex surgery and inpatient care, achieved overall good ratings across all five CQC assessment areas: well-led, caring, safe, effective and responsive.

The CQC noted outstanding areas of practice in surgical care, marking out the Hospital for its robotic surgery programme and use of a wire-free surgical guidance system to help surgeon’s locate cancerous and abnormal tissue. Also noted as outstanding was the collection of data to drive improvements.

Inspectors highlighted the levels of positive patient feedback, with patients telling the CQC that the team were “excellent” and “could not do enough” for them. This dedication to patient care contributes to creating a warm and friendly environment, and a supportive culture in the hospital team.

Miranda Dodd, CEO of The Princess Grace Hospital said;

“We are delighted to be awarded an overall Good rating by the CQC and that our surgical services have been rated as Outstanding in the responsive category. This is really a team achievement and reflects the levels of dedication and expertise that enable us to provide high quality care to all our patients, every day.

“For that reason, we were particularly pleased to see that the CQC made note of the positive patient feedback that we receive and the supportive, caring culture that we aim to create at The Princess Grace Hospital.”

Richard Lloyd-Booth, Chief Nurse at The Princess Grace Hospital said:

“This is a proud moment for The Princess Grace Hospital team. The report highlights so much of what makes the Hospital such a caring and compassionate place for both colleagues and patients. I am incredibly pleased that the CQC have recognised our commitment to responding to people's needs and our continued improvement so that we are always providing the highest standards of care.”

The CQC Good rating comes after the Hospital was awarded VTE Exemplar status in June 2021, becoming of one of only 35 hospitals in the National VTE Exemplar Centre network.
