A Year Supporting the National Response to COVID-19

This week HCA Healthcare UK launched a report A Year Supporting the National Response to COVID-19, Case Studies from Around HCA Healthcare UK, outlining how we refocused our services to ensure that care could continue throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

In total, we made available over 800 beds, 77 ITU beds, 33 HDU beds and 38 theatres to the NHS. HCA UK also provided vital equipment to the NHS including over 400 ventilators and critical care machines.

As a result of our collaboration with leading NHS Trusts including UCLH, Guy’s and St Thomas’, Kings, Royal Free, Imperial and Chelsea and Westminster, The Christie and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, we delivered care to over 14,000 time-critical NHS patients including those needing complex cardiac and cancer surgery as part of NHS cancer hubs in London and Greater Manchester, as well as the Pan-London and London Emergency Cardiac Service. We also delivered over 200 NHS babies, and undertook over 50 complex paediatric surgeries on behalf of the NHS.
