Robert graduated from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) in 1999. Following his studies he spent one year working at Tygerberg Hospital (a renowned teaching hospital) in Cape Town followed by a year in a rural hospital close to the Kruger National Park. He gained invaluable experience in different areas of medicine and obtained his ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Paediatrics Advanced Life Support) qualifications.
Robert then relocated to the UK in 2002 and initially worked in Oncology at Newcastle General Hospital. He then travelled between South Africa (where he worked as a GP) and the UK (where he worked in various private hospitals) for a period of 5 years before settling down in the UK. He joined the Nuffield Group in 2009 where he developed an interest in preventative medicine and health screening. He joined Roodlane in June 2011.
Robert is an avid sportsman and played Provincial (County) cricket in South Africa and still plays in the UK. This love of sport and exercise, spurred him on to complete a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is also busy completing a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine through the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (UK). He loves the outdoors, golf and particularly enjoys photography. -
