Placing your patients in experienced hands

At The Neurosurgery Centre we provide neurological care across the complete range of neurological disorders, including primary and metastatic tumours of the brain, spine, and nerves; brain haemorrhage and stroke; brain and spinal vascular malformations; headache and facial pain disorders; epilepsy; movement disorders; hydrocephalus; cerebral aneurysms; and neurological conditions affecting the peripheral nerves.

We are proud to have been working with referring clinicians from across the UK and overseas for over 40 years now and we warmly welcome the opportunity to collaborate in the care of your patients. Our consultant neurosurgeons work at The Wellington Hospital Neurosurgery Centre, part of HCA UK, because we have the clinical governance, exceptional levels of safety, multidisciplinary teams, clinical expertise and specialist nursing teams to deliver outstanding neurosurgical care for our patients referred to us.

Referring professionals to The Neurosurgery Centre

Referring your patient

Your patient will see a neurosurgeon who sub-specialises in their specific condition. The patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed with as many as twenty other senior clinicians – all of which are shared with the patient and referring clinician. It is crucial for our patients to have clear, joined-up care wherever they go. We therefore ensure that referrers are kept fully informed at every stage of assessment, treatment and follow-up.

We welcome referrals from all healthcare professionals from the UK and overseas including GP’s, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Oncologists or other specialists. Patients can also self-refer.

To refer your patient, please:

How to refer a patient for Gamma Knife radiosurgery?

All referrals for radiosurgery to The Wellington Hospital Neurosurgery Centre are discussed at a joint fortnightly MDT (with provision for urgent MDTs where necessary) with our sister hospital The Harley Street Clinic.

Cases are allocated to Gamma Knife or CyberKnife depending on the number of lesions, proximity to critical structures, previous treatments and the need for fractionation. Once that decision is made, the unit contacts the patient and clinician to arrange pre-assessment and dates for treatment.
