Getting an expert diagnosis and opinion

Our consultants meet weekly to discuss patient cases. With one of the most established GI MDTs in the private sector, in our multidisciplinary team meeting our clinicians scrutinise evidence, review images and debate diagnosis and most appropriate treatment options for you.

Your case will be reviewed by a team that includes surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, histopathologists and clinical nurse specialists.

Same-day access to experts

We provide a dedicated referral helpline for both patients and GPs who would like a same day appointment with any one of our consultants. Our helpline number is 020 7483 5148 open Monday-Friday 8.00am-8.00pm and Saturday 8.00am-5.00pm

Comprehensive diagnostics and imaging

Because we are based within an acute hospital with imaging services available in all of our facilities across our campus in St Johns Wood, patients who require immediate imaging, be that MRI or CT, can be seen same day in either our North building, South building or Platinum Medical Centre. We offer consultations and all the necessary investigations and diagnostic tests needed for all upper and lower gastrointestinal digestive conditions including:

  • Colonoscopy, gastroscopy,  flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • MRI, CT, Ultrasounds and X-ray
  • Fluoroscopy, enteroscopy
  • Fibroscan
  • PET scanning for cancer staging
  • ERCP
  • Hydrogen breath tests to identify gut bacteria and carbohydrate malabsorption
  • Haematology and biochemistry suites to assess blood, tissue and their composition
  • Stool testing (faecal occult blood)
  • Barium studies
  • Oesophageal physiology testing
  • Nuclear medicine scans (SEHCAT, HIDA)

Round the clock care

Great care means even more than providing you with an outstanding experience. Our clinical teams need an environment in which all patients can be properly supported. That’s why at The Wellington Hospital we have 33 Level three intensive case beds, offering the highest acuity care.

This includes all of our diagnostic tests and scans. Our scans are reviewed by a consultant radiologist, a specialist in your condition, who will often report the same day. These capabilities come together to create a unit unlike any other in the private sector — one that allows us to offer care, including acute and complex, round the clock.
