Patient support
The London Hip Unit is unique in the extensive level of support it offers its patients.
Miss Muirhead-Allwood has a committed team of dedicated doctors and nurse-specialists who are on-hand to provide patients with individual advice.
Patients registered with Miss Muirhead-Allwood are able to contact the London Hip Unit during office hours (Tel: +44 020 7908 3709, 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) to arrange to speak to a nurse specialist or doctor about any relevant concerns.
Patients that are booked in for surgery will have an hour long appointment (this can be up to one and a half hours if x-rays required) with the Nurse Specialist to discuss their medical history, recover after the surgery, equipment, home circumstances and any worries they may have regarding their treatment and recovery. The Nurses also liase with the anaesthetists regarding medical history and test results; the anaesthetist will then decide if the patient is fit for surgery.
When patients book in for surgery with Miss Muirhead-Allwood they will be provided with the London Hip Unit's 'Guide for Patients'. This provides very comprehensive information on what patients need to know before and after their surgery and is essential reading.
During their hospital stay, as well as visits from Miss Muirhead - Allwood, London Hip Unit registrars (doctors) visit patients daily following their surgery and are always on-call to answer queries.
All members of the London Hip Unit team work in conjunction with each patient's GP, provided consent is given. Strict confidentiality is always maintained.
