Private Care at Guy's: A world-class cancer centre and home to our robotic surgical programme

Great Maze Pond , London, SE1 9RT

Dedicated care for cancer

Private Care at Guy’s is our state-of-the-art cancer centre. Whilst located on the top four of floors Guy’s Hospital’s NHS cancer centre, Private Care at Guy’s is wholly owned by HCA UK's London Bridge Hospital. Featuring theatres, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, oncology and surgical wards, and a four-bed intensive care unit with an intensive care consultant resident 24 hours a day, we deliver a level of care rarely found in the private sector.

Private Care at Guy’s provides an environment in which the UK’s leading consultants can deliver the best possible care and treatment for our patients. Among other specialties London Bridge Hospital’s urology, haematology, head and neck, gynaecology, and oncology services are based here. Private Care at Guy’s is also a centre of excellence for robotic surgery, oncology and a JACIE accredited stem cell transplantation unit for blood cancers and Multiple Sclerosis.

A comprehensive robotic surgery programme

Here consultant surgeons have access to the latest technology on-site including the da Vinci ® surgical system: a robot that offers surgeons unparalleled assistance in performing the most complex and delicate of surgeries. This ensures greater precision when treating patients with conditions such as prostate cancer, and head and neck tumours, where the risk of collateral damage is higher in such confined spaces. Specialties include urology, gynaecology, head and neck and thoracic.

At Private Care at Guy’s the latest procedures carried out robotically include: Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) for base of tongue and throat cancers (Mr JP Jeannon pictured); radical prostatectomies, complex, urological reconstruction, adrenalectomy, thymectomy and lung segmentectomy, and hysterectomy. Patients whose conditions are appropriate for robotic surgery can expect: shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, less pain, lower infection rates and less scarring.
