Greater certainty over your health in a single visit
Following a remote consultation (or face to face), we aim to diagnose and treat you in a single visit to The Shard. We’ll coordinate your tests, assess your condition and provide medication or minor treatment (on the same day where medically possible). If your case is more complex, we’ll ensure you have an onward plan for your health that may involve further treatment - at London Bridge Hospital or nearer to home.
In short, you’ll benefit from the most knowledgeable specialist opinion, with the least inconvenience, in the safest of environments.

In a single visit, we can offer...

Consultations
At The Shard, you'll see a consultant who leads their medical field. They'll diagnose your condition based on any scans or tests done - on the same day where possible.

Prearranged one-visit clinics
Before you come, your consultant or GP may recommend certain scans or tests. We'll organise all these to take place on the same day.

Unplanned diagnostics
If your consultant decides you need a test on the day, you shouldn't have to wait, or go to another centre. We aim to get your scans, screens and biopsies done on the same day.

Frequently asked questions
-
Is The Shard safe to visit? icon plus
In these unusual times we are doing everything possible to stop the spread of COVID-19 and maintain the safest healthcare environments. The Shard is part of London Bridge Hospital, where staff are tested weekly and the spacious centre makes it easy to organise social distancing.
Patients, visitors and staff are screened for COVID-19 on arrival, all disinfection measures have been enhanced and hand washing zones are positioned throughout the hospital. We also stagger visits to manage numbers throughout the centre.
Our protocols are led by the lead Consultant Microbiologist at Guy's and St Thomas’ Hospital. As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to develop, so too will our measures.

How will I know where to go on arrival? icon plus
Talk to any of our administrative staff. They’ll help you find other departments, locate your next appointment, support you with insurer queries, find cafes and restaurants nearby, and more.
Nothing is too much trouble for our friendly reception and concierge service.
-
Can I bring someone with me? icon plus
To keep our spaces safe, we’re asking people to come to The Shard unaccompanied. However, if you need assistance on your visit, carers can be allowed if you prearrange this with our concierge, or your consultant’s secretary. Our nurses will be here to support you at all times during your visit.
Please be aware that while your diagnosis may start at The Shard, you may have to visit other departments such as endoscopy or cardiology, which are a few minutes away from the centre. So allow for some time if needed.
-
Can I collect medication at The Shard? icon plus
HCA Healthcare UK at The Shard is home to our on-site pharmacy. Should you need any medication, your doctor will provide you with a private prescription that you can pick up before you leave.

-
What are my payment options? icon plus
If you’re insured, you’ll need a referral from your GP to authorise paying for consultations, diagnostics and subsequent treatment. But you don’t need health insurance to be seen quickly.
If you’re looking for a diagnosis or treatment and don’t want to wait, you can pay for consultations, scans and treatments as and when you need them. Call our self-pay team on 020 3553 6743 and they’ll guide you through the options.
-
Is parking available? icon plus
HCA Healthcare at The Shard is two-minutes’ walk from London Bridge station and the underground. However, we understand that many people want to drive at the moment to avoid public transport.
Although parking is limited, there is an NCP car park just 4-minutes’ walk from The Shard. To make parking less stressful, we have a parking discount code which we will give you when you book your appointment.
