Complementary therapies

Our team of experienced complementary therapists offer aromatherapy, reflexology and massage.

About therapy treatments

All treatments are designed to relieve stress, aid relaxation, reduce anxiety and help to manage specific symptoms and side-effects of treatment such as nausea, sleep difficulties, pain, skin changes, digestive disturbances and changes in energy levels.

We can also offer a variety of personalised products, such as cream and oil blends, to take home to help to continue to support you between treatments.

What complementary therapies are available?

  • Aromatherapy icon plus

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that uses concentrated oils.

The oils works in two ways:

    • you absorb them through the skin into your body tissues
    • they stimulate your sense of smell to set off a reaction in your body

Aromatherapists use a small number of these oils for people with cancer and they aim to boost well being, relieve stress and help to refresh your body.

These essential oils can be made from the flowers, fruit, seeds, leaves, root or bark of plants. Your therapist will discuss the types of oils they can use directly with you.

Reflexology is a therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

It is a non-intrusive supportive therapy, that can be received by anyone at any age and is individually tailored to each person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your health.

  • Massage therapy icon plus

Our therapists use massage to manipulate the soft tissues within your body. They do this by kneading, tapping or pressing on areas of your body.

For people with cancer it can help lift moods, relaxation and improve sleep patterns. It can help cope with; stress, anxiety, headaches and pain.
