At LOC patients are treated as individuals

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise the devastation that a cancer diagnosis can bring with it. Our aim is to care for each individual as best we can, according to their wishes, needs and culture, focusing on the person, not the disease.

We personalise treatment plans and consider what support people need alongside, and beyond, to keep body and soul together. Have a closer look at everything we do at LOC.

Types of cancer we treat at LOC

We treat all forms of adult cancer, from the most common to the very rare.

You will be under the care of one LOC consultant and there will be a team of specialists planning your care every step of the way. By combining their expertise, we ensure each individual receives the most effective and personalised treatment plan.

Cancer MDT

A wide range of LOC specialists work together to develop your treatment plan

Your consultant does not work alone. A ‘multi-disciplinary team’ is always on hand to discuss every patient and agrees together the best course of treatment. This ensures that our patients are cared for according to the latest research and best clinical practice.

It also ensures that the whole team know each patient individually and understand exactly what is needed. At whatever stage of treatment, it will always be your consultant leading your care.

Research and Clinical trials

We are committed to bringing the most innovative cancer treatment to our patients sooner. One way in which we can do this is by participating in clinical trials and studies. Cancer research clinical trials and studies are designed to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer and also to manage the symptoms of cancer or the side effects of its treatment.

Clinical trials are available for all stages of cancer, and not only for those with advanced disease. Many of our consultants are personally involved in these clinical trials and so can advise you on what is relevant to your condition. If your consultant believes that you are eligible for enrolment into a clinical trial, they will liaise directly with the SCRIUK team and will continue to be closely involved in your care.

All clinical trials at Sarah Cannon Research UK follow the strict rules set by the Department of Health and are approved by an Ethics Committee in the UK, to ensure that the highest standards of safety are maintained at all times.

Make an appointment
