About

The intensive care unit (ICU) at The Wellington Hospital treats patients who are critically ill. We provide the highest standard of specialist care, 24 hours a day. The service is provided by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of consultant intensivists, registrars, nurses, dieticians, pharmacists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Constant one-to-one care is provided to all our intensive care patients. Our unit is capable of caring for patients with the most complex health needs including those who have had major general, neurological or cardiac surgery. We also provide care for patients who require the highest level of organ support. It is supported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by theatres, our cardiac catheter laboratory and a full range of diagnostic services. You can be confident that your friends or relatives are being looked after safely at this anxious time.

Expertise

Our intensive care unit (ICU) at The Wellington Hospital treats patients who are usually either admitted to the hospital, then treated intensively by the unit as part of their inpatient care or have been transferred to the unit from any other NHS, private or overseas facility.
