  Mr Velayudham is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip surgery. His specialist interests are minimally invasive total hip replacement, complex primary and revision hip replacement and hip arthroscopy for hip impingement and other hip pathology.
  
  He qualified in 1992 from University of Chennai, India and pursued his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics on South East Thames training programme working at various hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital. He completed fellowship in pelvic and acetabular reconstructive surgery from St George’s Hospital and hip reconstructive surgery from Royal National Orthoapedic Hospital before starting as a substantiative NHS Consultant Orthoapedic Surgeon based at Tunbridge wells in 2006.
  
  He is actively involved in teaching and research projects including audits. His research interest includes bone grafting for acetabular defects, proximal femur bone remodelling, optimal alignment of hip prostheses etc.
