    Professor David Nicol is an Urologist and Renal Transplant Surgeon and is currently Clinical Lead of Renal Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital. He also works at UCLH performing upper urinary tract surgery and is a member of the London Sarcoma Service based at UCLH. Prior to moving to the UK he was Director of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia and Professor of Surgery at the University of Queensland.

    Professor Nicol's clinical interests include all forms of renal surgery including renal transplantation, upper urinary tract malignancy (kidney and testis) and retroperitoneal malignancy. In Australia he pioneered laparoscopic urological surgery performing the first laparoscopic nephrectomy in 1993 and subsequently trained numerous urologists, including many from London and elsewhere in the UK, in laparoscopic renal surgery.

    As a Consultant Urologist since 1992, Professor Nicol has an extensive experience in general urology. He has had an active role in research with interests in gene identification, angiogenesis and tissue kallikrien activity in urological malignancy with research grants in excess of £10 million.
